#4 — Diversity and Inclusion more than ever 🎨
Hello everyone,
I am very happy to see you again with some diversity, equity and inclusion after a crazy week. I thought 2020 was over… 2021 seems to be season 2. Anyway, let’s try to put a little positivity, diversity and inclusion in our tea.
In the latest news we have a spotlight on cultural appropriation. An idea that would have brought more diversity and inclusiveness to the reflection and realization in my opinion. Without counting in their apologies… I don’t say any more to you to take a look and give me your opinion. A series of articles and videos are also available below to help expand your knowledge of DEI & belonging. These resources may also help you to identify what makes each of us unique and recognize that our individual differences are a source of collective strength.
Diversity and Inclusion more than ever. We can see in consumer trends that diversity and inclusion is more than a need, it is a necessity in the fashion, the technology, the audiovisual industries and so on.
40% of Americans report that they have researched a brand’s DEI efforts prior to making a purchase, and of those, a quarter decided against making that purchase based on what they found.
60% of consumers say that a brand should only talk about DEI if they have strong practices internally.
With this insight comes responsibility.
Take care and see you soon ✌.
Best regards,
Dolores Crazover

Diversity & Inclusion ✨
Tweet, Tweet, Tweet makes the bird that sums up the story. But what a story! Some will say that it was just a simple and innocent idea, others will say that they should have abstained because it is disrespectful to Chinese culture and that it is a false good idea. What do you think about it?
See Below the whole story.

Anna aptly made the case that CMOs must double down on DEI efforts in order to compete in today’s market and improve business performance.
A recent Gartner study showed 40% of Americans report that they have researched a brand’s DEI efforts prior to making a purchase, and of those, a quarter decided against making that purchase based on what they found.
Especially in light of Black Lives Matter, which gained mainstream momentum over the summer of 2020, with 72% of consumers supporting the cause behind the movement, many brands were quick to make public statements of support. Those statements are important, but they lack resonance if an organization isn’t taking the right actions internally. 60% of consumers say that a brand should only talk about DEI if they have strong practices internally. Thus, a CMO may find herself in the unique position of needing to tell a CEO or Board that until the organization does the right thing internally, it’s better to stand down and focus inward first.
With this insight comes responsibility — to ensure our marketing teams are actively hiring and developing a diverse talent mix, fostering an inclusive work environment, and to take a critical look at our suppliers — from agencies and production houses to marketing technology vendors.
Anna noted that this matters even more for marketers because of the increasingly diverse nature of our audiences. By 2055, the U.S. will have a majority-minority population. Consumers increasingly prioritize the value of inclusion.
“The field of AI has been awash in concerns about ethics and fairness in AI over the past few years. At the same time, many people have awakened to the deep-seated, structural problems of racial injustice.
One of the most important ways the industry can abate the potential harms of AI is to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at every step in the process of making and deploying it. At this time, the vast majority of those creating AI within the enterprise, in tech startups, and in small to medium-sized businesses understand why DEI is important not only for moral reasons, but for practical ones.”
Changing the mindset: a better mirror
The old mantra of “move fast and break things” has expired. “I think there should be a new mantra: Move fast and do it right,” Abidi said. She pointed out that the very notion of “breaking things” is dangerous because the stakes in AI are so high. She added, “AI for all is only possible when technologists and business leaders consciously work together to create a DEI workforce.”

We can see in the title that there is minimization of the situation. They just wanted to joke?! Reading the article we can see that this is only the tip of the iceberg… This was indeed a racial slur. When will the media take responsibility for the negative influence they have on hateful or rejecting behavior towards women and minaurities? Everyone should be held accountable for their actions. What do you think?
Throughout the country (USA), numerous businesses are beginning to understand the necessity of having a person on their staff dedicated to the function of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).
In line with the Nurture Genius part of the plan, Moncler said it will establish a Diversity and Inclusion Council to spur cultural change, internally and externally. By 2022, 100% of employees will be engaged in a three-year cultural awareness plan. By 2023, a new organizational model based on transversal and intercultural working groups will be implemented.

Thinking 💭 –Tips 💡
Having a diverse workforce cloud be even more vital in this field than elsewhere in tech.
Social media has a profound impact on people’s idea, perceptions, and gender stereotypes. Unfortunately, most media published throughout social platforms is perpetuating gender inequality. In fact, from a very young age, the thoughts and beliefs of the younger population are shaped by the influence of the media on views of gender.
